About this item

Details

HO scale dwarf signal that actually lights, molded and built by RailForge. Every unit ships with a tri-color LED (red / yellow / green) built in — no separate lamp to source, no soldering a bulb into a hood that wasn't made for it. The green runs a deeper blue-green than the washed-out yellow-greens most signals use, so a "clear" aspect reads the way the prototype actually looks on the ballast.

It's a common-anode LED, pre-wired with four leads: red, yellow, and green cathode legs plus a shared blue common. Three current-limiting resistors are included in the bag (not attached on purpose) — one each for the red, yellow, and green legs. Running a signal network with onboard current limiting? Skip them entirely. We run these exact dwarves at a club layout on both Digitrax and RR-CirKits signal boards with no inline resistors at all — plug the common-anode LED straight in. Driving it off raw track or accessory power instead? Drop the three included resistors in line.

The concrete base comes separate (not attached), so you're not locked into one look. Plant the signal on the included base for a standard trackside install, or skip it and mount the signal straight onto your own foundation, relay case, or scratchbuilt structure.

The head is painted on the inside to bounce light forward toward the lens, so the lit aspect is bright and clean instead of dim and scattered.

Finish matters on this one. A lit signal needs an opaque shell or the light bleeds through the body and kills the effect. The painted option is finished in several coats specifically to stop that bleed-through — order it painted and it's ready to plant. Prefer your own road's color or weathering? Order it unpainted and finish it yourself; just plan on enough coats to block the light.
